She was a founding member of the Dallas NAACP and served as its president from 1965 to 1967. She was also a founding member of the Dallas Urban League and served as its president from 1967 to 1969. In addition to her civil rights work, Dede Robertson has been involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors. She is a founding member of the Dallas Women's Foundation and has served on the boards of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Opera.
